Provides support to the Anticoagulation/Medication Therapy Management Clinic. Works under the supervision of the pharmacists in the Anticoagulation/Medication
Therapy Management Clinic.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient/customer care and patient/customer satisfaction.
Directly accountable to Director, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Programs, Asst Director, Regional Coordinator of Anticoagulation/Medication Therapy Management
Services, and/or Clinic Assistant II Team Lead.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates excellent command of the English language. Must be able to clearly and accurately convey appropriate information to patients of all ages and educational
background in face-to-face situations and via telephone.
Demonstrated strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
Demonstrates judgment to make appropriate decisions about referring patients and questions to the pharmacist. Understanding and willingness to protect patients'
Demonstrates ability to take direction.
Demonstrates patience to perform repetitive tasks and attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrates working knowledge of medical terminology required. Preferred knowledge of scheduling and laboratory systems.
Demonstrates knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word, keyboard skills). Must be able to type letters and instructions in an efficient manner.
Demonstrates ability to function effectively in a very busy, high-stress work environment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or equivalent required. Reading comprehension at a high school level required.
Minimum of one-year public contact and/or telephone experience required.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
