JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the System Director, Acute Disease Management, the scope and breath of responsibility for the Director, Acute Pharmacy will include comprehensive oversight of Geisinger acute pharmacy services for their assigned campus(es). Demonstrates excellence in the planning, development, implementation and supervision of comprehensive medication therapy management for Geisinger. Facilitates and ensures the coordination of patient care through the continuum. Possesses and maintains the respect of the staff and function as a facilitator in a team-based environment. Clearly and effectively articulates in a timely fashion the mission, goals, strategy, critical issues and values of Geisinger to the employees who work within the respective area of responsibility. In addition, effectively communicates the opinions, concerns, and suggestions of those employees to EP leadership.
The Director must possess excellent consultation, communication and interpersonal skills including, empathy and must be highly functioning a multidisciplinary team-based environment. The Director must maintain a comprehensive and long-range system view of Geisinger's strategic plan, which constantly seeks to identify and take advantage of opportunities to improve the health and wellness of the patients and families served by Geisinger. Effective accomplishment of these goals and objectives will require a collaborative relationship with physicians and administrators who share responsibility for the performance at each hospital.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction
Mutually agreed upon goals and objectives will be established and reviewed on a yearly basis
Works under the general direction of the System Director, Acute Disease Management, and must maintain a close cooperative relationship with the Assistant Director(s) at their respective campuses. In addition, works in collaboration with all other leadership of Enterprise Pharmacy.

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and clinical skills in pharmacy practice.

Demonstrates understanding of healthcare financial principles.
Demonstrates understanding of performance improvement methodologies and processes.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college and current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required. In the absence of a PharmD, a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy with appropriate clinical pharmacy experience will substitute.
Pharmacy Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency experience preferred. 7 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience including at least 5 years in a supervisory or project management role in an acute care setting required. Graduation from PGY1 residency program will be counted as 2 years of clinical experience.
Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialty preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical and professional office environment.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women’s health (in the Women’s Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics. The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus.
