DESCRIPTION: Antimicrobial Steward/Infectious Disease Specialist:--The Clinical Specialist is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups (including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients). They are responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services within specialization in their assigned area, including but limited to the preparation , dispensing, and monitoring of both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures. They exercise considerable independent decision making. The Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Pharmacy and Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services in the coordination and supervision of all clinical pharmacy activities in addition to the quality improvement and quality assurance activities relating to the provision of pharmaceutical care. The Specialist plans, organizes, analyzes, and compiles the facility s medication utilization program(s) as required and assists in the implementation of cost containment programs. Furnish clinical information to physicians, pharmacy personnel, health care practitioners, and patients. Serves to supervise the clinical activities of the clinical pharmacists.
REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of Pharmacy with a PharmD. Successful completion of a Post Graduate Year 1 residency (PGY1). Successful completion of a Post Graduate Year 2 residency (PGY2) in specialty preferred. Board certification in pharmacotherapy preferred. Board certification in specialty preferred. Current registration in New Jersey as a licensed registered pharmacist required. Familiarity with all phases of Hospital Pharmacy. Working knowledge of public health matters. Familiarity with Federal and State laws regulating professional and hospital practice of Pharmacy.
