Emergency Department of the Saint Mary’s Campus at the Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Rochester Minnesota. Saint Mary’s campus is a 1265 bed teaching hospital campus providing services in virtually every medical specialty. Mayo Clinic Rochester is a regional Level I adult and pediatric trauma center as well as an internationally renowned quaternary referral center, in addition to serving adult, pediatric and geriatric patients from SE Minnesota and surrounding states. The ED has ~ 78,000 visits annually and an admission rate of ~ 30%.
One full time clinical pharmacist opening on the hospital emergency medicine pharmacy team. Responsibilities include providing quality, comprehensive bedside patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Clinical services consist of identification of drug-related problems in patients presenting to the ED, provision of recommendations regarding drug therapy, and direct patient care at the bedside. Situational awareness and task prioritization in the ED are enhanced through electronic automated alerts for resuscitations (e.g. trauma, medical, stroke, STEMI, toxicology, procedural sedation, intubation). Active participation in medical decision-making is expected and valued. Pharmacists partake in medication ordering and drug preparation in emergent situations to facilitate patient care. Clinical consultations and resuscitations are conducted through emergency telepharmacy and telemedicine services to assist ED providers in the regional health-care system.
Providing didactic lectures and simulation training for ED multidisciplinary team members is expected, as is precepting of pharmacy student, PGY1 and PGY2 EM / specialty learners. Involvement in scholarly activities including quality initiatives and multidisciplinary research is encouraged and supported through extensive institutional / departmental resources.
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience includes at least two years of relevant pharmacy practice experience. Computer experience. Committment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and team work. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organize time well, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ten hour shifts, 3pm – 1 am, 7 days on and 7 days off.
