The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, La is seeking a Chief of Pharmacy. As Chief you will serve as a member of the Medical Center Research & Development Committee, Chairs the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, and is a member of various facility/VISN committees. You will monitor and promote compliance with VA regulations and professional standards pertaining to pharmacy related mandates; monitors and promotes cooperation and compliance of the pharmacy staff with federal and state laws and regulations; medical staff bylaws and rules as applicable; facility policies; The Joint Commission standards and other regulatory bodies as applicable to the individual, profession, or facility.
You will report directly to the Chief of Staff and functions as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. You are responsible for the planning, directing, controlling, coordinating, operating, and evaluating Pharmacy Service Programs. Current Programs include, but are not limited to, Drug Therapy Monitoring, Drug Serum Level Consult Service, Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Nutritional Support, Pain Management, Code Blue Consult Service, Ambulatory Care Pharmacist Clinic, Drug Information/Patient Education, Pharmacist Rounds, Research, Drug Use Evaluation/Quality Assurance, and Medication Management Systems.
The medication management systems include computerized full service IV Admixture Program 24-hours a day, a decentralized Unit Dose Drug Distribution Program, and a specialized Pharmacy Oncology Support Program. This position is also responsible for resource the accurate projecting, planning, and effective allocation of budget, drug inventory, and staffing necessary to meet pharmacy workload and patient care requirements. Additional responsibilities include identifying, planning, developing, and implementing programs and policies for providing training and educational opportunities for staff and career development.

You must be a U.S. Citizen
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
License. Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: Supervisory and management experience over Pharmacy operations. Advanced knowledge in systems planning, changed management, and applied background in Pharmacy practice. Experience management a Service Line budget.
