Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician(Variable, 0.0 FTE)to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska.
We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform technical duties related to pharmaceutical care under the supervision and oversight of a licensed Pharmacist. Accurately and productively fills and delivers routine orders using various unit dose systems, and computer based order entry and billing systems.
In this position you will:
Monitor stock and inventory of all pharmaceutical supplies in the pharmacy and the nurse's station narcotics cabinet and Emergency Room.
Maintain the formulary, communicate proactively with the medical staff in developing, maintaining and updating the medications on stock.
Orient new staff to the pharmacy and provides continuing education in providing pharmacy services to ensure competency of staff.
Provide written feedback regarding Quality Improvement Issues and ensures compliance with the Quality Management reviews.
Develop and maintain public relations both internally with patients, physicians and co-workers, and externally with visitors and community members to promote a positive Medical Center image.
Communicate with team members to obtain or provide information and identify patient or other needs.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician License
Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to attain certification within 90 days of date of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Prior experience in hospital or pharmacy settings
